Summary, etc. How does it feel to be unique, gender-wise? For someone who is physically and psychologically different, there are countless emotions and thoughts that are connected to this one question. The answer to the question is often evasive and ambiguous, and yet it is a stark reality.
People who identify as transgender are those whose identities diverge from the binary gender conventions that recognize humans as exclusively males and females. The issues of people belonging to a sexual minority have been raised by the transgender community worldwide and yet seems to be an issue that is not talked about- leave alone death with-enough. Due to society's rejection of their gender identity, transgender individuals have faced discrimination, social marginalization and physical assault.
The presence of transgender people can be traced back to millennia. In India, the earliest references to transgender identities are found in ancient religious texts and other classical books-Hindu mythology, folklore, epics and early Vedic and Puranic works of literature. Thus, the concept of transgender identity is not new in our society. Despite this, the community faces many problems due to the homophobic mindset of mainstream society. ---provided by publisher
